Have you ever noticed the similarities between business and fitness?

Haven’t you noticed that most of the people who get their lazy butt off the couch one day and decide they are FINALLY going to get in shape are the ones who fail?

They have no plan.

They have no support system.

They don’t have the know-how.

They just dive in head first and change everything about their life.

And in a couple of weeks they’re back to stuffing their face with every potato chip they can find.

But the same is very much true of trainers.

They suddenly decide they have had enough.

No more working for The Man!

They’re going to make drastic changes.

They’ve got 5 different info-products in the works…

They’re working on their website…

Part of their referral program is in place…

They’ve started to ask around about doing a boot camp…

And what happens?

Well, within a few weeks pretty much nothing.

There was a giant cloud of dust.

There was a whole lot of work done.

But nothing actually got accomplished.

Or…

…for some the new marketing works and a flood of new clients comes in.

So what happens?

They’re flush with cash and happy as a clam training all these wonderdul people.

So the business will have to be put on hold.

Someone has to service all these people, right? They paid already.

So what’s my advice?

Calm down!

Take a step back.

Get one thing done at a time.

Create a plan.

Take baby steps towards its completion.

Welcome mistakes. They are the only way you will really learn.

Correct those mistakes.

Take more baby steps.

Who loves ya? ;-)

“Jim,

Just wanted to give you a quick heads up on the progress I’ve made with my camps since purchasing your Ultimate Boot Camp Product.

I started in March ‘06 with about 10 people attending. It’s steadily grown over the last 9 months with this month hitting 56 enrolled!!

It was your product that cemented the idea to start my own camps. I had no idea at the time that some initial guidance from the Ultimate BC CD’s and some marketing know how would amount to a such a successful business.

I want to thank you for providing that spark that ignited what this year will be a SIX-FIGURE boot camp business!!”

“Hi Jim,

My name is Lyle Johnson, owner of MVP Fitness in St. Louis. I purchased your Boot Camp Start Up Kit and have gotten great results. I have had 44 camp members enroll in MVP Fitness Boot Camp in the first month. Not bad considering I only had 3 clients last year before the Kit!

Currently I am holding three camps; one at a local high school, another in an affluent subdivision and the other one for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Organization, which is actually held on the baseball diamond at the brand new Busch Staduim.

I feel great and very confident in the future direction of MVP Fitness and I am looking forward to improving more people’s lives by offering more boot camps.

Thanks again! Your Ultimate Boot Camp Start-Up Kit CDs really helped me grow my business!”

Better Results in One Easy Step

Better Results in One Easy Step

The longer I do this, the more I realize one thing:

It’s all so much easier than we make it out to be.

Strange how we love to make things so much harder and complicated than they need to be.

Alex Poole is a friend and customer of mine based in the UK. He posted something very powerful on the Trainer’s Inner Circle forum the other day.

What was it?

Glad you asked.

He increased his business in one easy step.

Alex told some clients who were only training with his business one time per week they would get far better results if they increased their sessions per week frequency.

They know Alex. They trust Alex. So they went along with Alex.

So what could you be telling your current clients to increase your revenues and improve their results?

Could you tell them the same as Alex?

Could you tell them they should enroll in your weight management program?

Could you suggest their goals would be more easily reached if they started using a post-workout drink?

Could you suggest the health benefits if a powerful Essential Fatty Acid product?

I’ll write it yet again: Life is easy when we let it be.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Eliminate Confusion in Sixty Seconds

October 25, 2007 by jim · Leave a Comment

I recently saw a commercial for a company called “Time Shares Only.”

Couple things on that:

1- I immediately tried to register waitlossonly.com (spelled wrong intentionally) but it was already taken. Would you have done the same?

2- You can check out their site at timesharesonly.com

3- I don’t know anything about this company. Meaning, I don’t know if they’re great at what they do. If they’re terrible. Nothing.

4- The point is that they sell time shares. It’s 100% obvious what they do.

They do NOT confuse their prospect.

They don’t sell condos for people to live in year round.

Not townhouses.

Not duplexes.

Not commercial real estate.

Not ranches.

Not single family homes.

They do not confuse their prospect.

They sell time shares. And they promote the fact they do it better than everybody else.

Do you see my point?

When you’re working on your business you need to take off your trainer hat and put on your business owner hat.

You need to start to think differently.

Let me clear this up.

When I talk to trainers they ask me all these questions about how to market all these different programs they have.

And when I ask them who their clients are, and what they come to them for, they usually say the same thing:

90% of their clients are women who come to them because they want to fit in their skinny jeans again.

So…

If 90% of your revenues come from one market why bang your head against the wall trying to figure out how to promote your sport specific or post-rehab programs when they hardly make you any dough?

Why not be like Time Shares Only and make what you offer clear as day?

And make your life much more simple in the process?

Who loves ya? ;-)

Passive Fitness Income Blueprint

October 23, 2007 by jim · Leave a Comment

It breaks my heart to know that so many trainers out there are so amazingly unaware how much easier their lives could be.

I get complaints all the time about how nobody ever told them about this stuff.

They didn’t learn it when they were getting certified.

They certainly didn’t learn it in school.

The other trainers where they worked had no clue.

But the opportunities to help more people and create more freedom for themselves are everywhere.

They just need to know where to look.

And this newsletter is one of those places.

A big reason I constantly preach about leveraging your time with fitness boot camps is to free up hours and hours to focus on other moolah making opportunities.

I’ve been writing for years now how camps provide you the time to study the business information you simply must be armed with to create the life of your dreams.

There are untold ways to make passive income if only you’re willing to learn about them.

And one of those ways, as you are most likely aware, is online information marketing.

Every day a gazillion people all over the world go online in search of solutions.

Are you going to tell me that you aren’t bright enough to figure out how to attract a few thousand of them as customers?

Come on!

Every day there are also a gazillion people making a killing online.

And yeah, some of the stuff they sell is crap.

But what the heck do you care about that?

You can only control what YOU do.

You can only control what YOU offer these people.

Stop listening to the cry babies on the internet forums and put your own valuable information to good use.

If you don’t like the quality of the products being offered online you have two choices:

1- Act like a big freakin’ baby and go to an online forum and cry, b*tch and moan.

2- Offer a better product and put the inferior one out of business.

So which person are you?

Are you the cry baby who likes to preach about how things should be and never does anything about it? Are you the loser who lets other people put their neck on the line?

Or are you the kind of person who searches for the answers on how to improve your own life, and the lives of others, and does something positive?

My good friend and business partner Ryan Lee has a new book out TODAY.

It’s a 21 Day Blueprint to online success.

It’s a couple of bucks.

If you follow the blueprint it will be the start of an entirely new life for you in every way you can imagine.

Be one of the strong and create the life YOU want.

Don’t let the online bullies push you around.

Don’t let the weak-minded fools of the world delay your success any longer.

Fortune favors the bold.

Get over to http://passivefitnessincome.com right now and grab your share of the online dream.

It’s all there for the taking. The rest is up to you.

7 Time Wasters Exposed

October 22, 2007 by jim · Leave a Comment

This is interesting. If you work with young athletes - or just have young children, be sure to check this out:
http://tinyurl.com/2ffgwy

********

Seven Time Wasters Exposed

How do you measure up to this list?

1) One-on-One Training

Your professional colleagues are substantially out earning you because they are either running camps or training people in semi-private groups.

And just as importantly, more people are getting fit. It’s less expensive for them and the social support component is a critical factor in their results.

2) Book Keeping and Accounting

Yes, both are critical to your business. But you shouldn’t be spending your time counting pennies.

Yes, you need to be financially literate. But you should be focusing on growing your business. Not spending hours trying to figure out QuickBooks.

3) Trying to be Perfect

If everything you do needs to be perfect you’re in for a lot of trouble as an entrepreneur.

Trying to create the perfect website, product, article, newsletter or whatever is an amazing form of self-sabotage.

Nothing will cripple your success like perfectionism.

4) Online Forums

This is a newsletter unto itself. But whether the forum you visit often is a positive or negative influence, far too many trainers spend their times online talking about nonsense.

I’ve been guilty of this myself.

5) Decision Making

If you want to be in business for yourself you’d better be able to make decisions quickly. Hemming and hawing doesn’t get the job done.

Additionally, asking your friends and family who have ZERO clue about what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur could be about the dumbest thing you could do.

But don’t worry, when I first started I was guilty of this too.

Create a board of advisors for your business of SUCCESSFUL entrepreneurs and seek council with them, and them alone.

6) Getting Yet Another Certification

I could write a book about how silly most personal trainers are. Being a great entrepreneur and being a great trainer are two different things.

If you haven’t already, read the E-Myth by Michael Gerber and learn the difference between a business owner and a technician.

7) Checking Email Constantly

Again, guilty as charged. Set a time or two each day to check your email.

And for the whole story, read The Four Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss.

What Fortunes and Fools Are Made Of

********

NEWS: Prograde Nutrition in Fitness Management Magazine

If you have a copy of it there’s a short write-up about us on page 70! Become a Prograde Pro TODAY! http://getprograde.com/fitness_pro

********

I am NOT a morning person.

Not at all.

So I often do exactly what I shouldn’t do and turn the TV on first thing in the AM.

What can I tell you?

SportsCenter helps me wake up in the morning.

During a commercial I flipped around a bit and found one of my favorite shows.

A good ole fitness infomercial!!!

Is there anything better?

And during those glorious thirty minutes I came up with two pretty good ideas.

One of which is a sure-fire six figure idea.

Six figures at least. (don’t worry, it’s going to mean big moolah for you, too!)

What does this have to do with the subject of this email?

Fortunes are made from ideas.

Fools don’t have any.

I write this because there seems to be a lot of talk in the industry about how trainers don’t need anymore ideas.

How all these ideas are stealing your dreams.

My response?

One word:

Huh?

Let me make this crystal clear: Ideas are where fortunes come from.

You may not like these businesses. Or maybe you love them. But they all started when someone had an idea.

Google

Starbucks

The Home Depot

WalMart

I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Anyway, not all ideas are winners.

But some of them are.

So, what have you been doing lately to inspire new ideas?

Oh, and one last piece of advice:

The next time someone tells you you’ve got enough ideas, get away from them as fast as you can.

Unless you enjoy hanging out with fools.

PPS - The most frequently asked questions regarding http://sixfigurebootcamps.com/

Q1. I’m new to boot camps. Will this product help me get started?

A. No, Ultimate Boot Camp Volume 2 is NOT for beginners. It is for those who are already running successful camps.

Q2. How is this product different from the original?

A. Simply put it takes boot camps to a whole other level. It teaches you how to take your 3 x week boot camp class that earns you a hundred dollars or so per hour into a true business. The Ultimate Boot Camp Volume 2 is for fitness entrepreneurs who are serious about building a business that lasts and grows.

Q3. Is it really worth the price?

A. We don’t blame you one bit for being skeptical. But this is the real deal. And any business owner who knows what the heck they are doing will find at bare bones minimum three ideas that will help them make ten times their money back on this product. Again, that’s bare bones minimum.

Some of our competitors would like to make you think that ideas are a bad thing. But that’s the talk of fools. Ideas are what fortunes are made from.

Follow this simple formula

October 16, 2007 by jim · Leave a Comment

A couple weeks ago I had an interesting conversation with my friend and customer BJ Gaddour.

He told me about a camp he ran for athletes over the summer with another friend and customer, Dave Schmitz.

As expected, these two exceptional fitness pros delivered terrific results. The kids got bigger, faster, stronger…

But what excited the athletes the most?

They could see their abs.

Yes, after all that work they were most happy to look better.

As you probably know by now marketing is about touting benefits.

You need to tell your prospects “what’s in if for them.”

This is simple reminder that chances are your prospects want one benefit far more than any others.

They want to look better naked.

It’s the proven formula for success. Let people know you will help them look better naked.
****
My friend Scott Colby has the formula down cold. He’s pulled together 15 of the world’s foremost fitness experts - and fitness marketers - to create an event called the http://amazingabsblueprint.com

Since you can listen to the entire thing at ZERO COST you cannot afford to miss it for two reasons:

1- They are outstanding professionals who are great at helping people look better naked

Ryan Lee’s $30 Car Wash

October 12, 2007 by jim · Leave a Comment

Ryan Lee and I share an office together here in South Florida.

He got his car handwashed today at our office for $30.

The man who did the job is the same guy who owns this little carwash/detailing company.

I don’t know the reason he started this business.

Maybe he loves cars.

Maybe it beats the alternative - working for someone else.

Maybe he’s making a lot more washing one car per hour than he would anything else.

Maybe his dream is to create an empire from this.

Maybe he envisions a program of licensed car detailers nationwide using his systems.

Or maybe he can only envision himself washing cars for the rest of his life.

There is no right or wrong here.

No good or bad.

He provides a great service at a great price.

Nothing wrong with that. Not at all.

But the point I want to make is simple:

Your imagination creates your reality. So the better your imagination, the better your life.

Now I realize that is nothing new to you.

But all the inspirational quotes and cliches are true.

If you think you can or think you can’t, you’re going to be right.

If you can’t see it, you can’t be it.

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

What’s really interesting is that fitness pros use these quotes and sayings all the time, yet they dream so small.

And I’m not just talking about financial dreams.

Why not a dream to help 1,000,000 get fit?

Why not a dream to reduce decrease childhood obesity nationwide by 1/2?

And this goes for me, too.

So your homework this weekend, and mine, is to dream a bigger dream.

How to Take 15 Weeks of Vacation Per Year

October 10, 2007 by jim · Leave a Comment

How to Take 15 Weeks of Vacation Per Year

Don’t hesitate. You’ve only got until Friday:

http://sixfigurebootcamps.com/

****

I’m often asked for help.

One of the things trainers consistently want to know is how they can either get clients, or fill a boot camp, fast.

I’m not entirely sure how many like my answer.

It’s pretty simple really. But it requires getting out of your comfort zone and getting out and promoting in a big, big way.

Most trainers would rather I tell them some magic formula.

Many, I believe, were hoping I was going to pat them on the head and tell them not to worry. That everything was going to be ok.

You may think I’m kidding.

Anyway, if you want to pack your boot camp or get clients FAST here is my advice:

- Get off your a**

- Stop wondering how things are going to work out for you and start taking action

- Get on the phone and call 100 companies each day about coming in and doing a presentation on fitness during their employees lunch hour, at no cost to the company or their people. (Yes, it’s called a Lunch and Learn)

- Yes, I wrote ONE HUNDRED

- Give as many talks as you can. At the end make a special deal to all audience members on your camp or service that ends the moment you walk out the door. Make it so special they’d be crazy to turn it down.

- Tell every single person you know about your camp or service and let them know you need clients or campers

- Also let these people know you need media contacts as you have stories for them (especially boot camps)

- Get to every networking meeting in your area you possibly can. Make the same special deal to everyone you meet there. Again, let them know the deal ends as soon as you leave the meeting.

- Make sure your target market goes to these types of networking events

- Did I mention you need to get off your a**?

You’ve got to want it. And you’ve got to want it bad.

And I’ll tell you what, last week I interviewed some of the most successful and hungriest fitness boot campers on earth.

They’re kicking butt and making it happen.

And yes, one of them reveals how his boot camp business allows him to take 15 weeks of vacation per year.

When was the last time you took 15 DAYS of vacation?

You’ve got until Friday before I raise the price.

Get all the details at http://sixfigurebootcamps.com/

Yours in prosperity,

Jim Labadie
http://sixfigurebootcamps.com/

PS- If the above advice scared the you know what out of you then don’t bother with http://sixfigurebootcamps.com/. It would be a waste of your time. It’s only for the strong.
