Fitness Marketing Public speaking nightmare come true

October 27, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I had been worried about it all year. It had seriously been on my mind from the start of my freshman year in high school.

Speech class.

Yes, to get out of the 9th grade I was going to have to take Speech class.

And when I tell you it kept me up at nights I’m not even close to kidding.

So, as the the subject of this headline suggests, yes, my greatest fear came true during my first presentation.

I was up in front of the class trying to get through my notes when a kid in the front row screamed, “Look at Labadie, he’s shaking!”

Yup, literally shaking in my sneakers.

But you know what. I made it through. I made it through that speech and many, many since.

And I cannot begin to tell you how much muney that skill has made me. In fact, if I hadn’t fought through that fear and learned how to speak in front of people I’m not sure where I would be right now.

I wouldn’t be writing you all these emails, that’s for sure.

The lesson is simple: Don’t let your fears run your life. Because they sure as you know what will if you let them.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,

PS - My http://AmazingFitnessPresentations.com will teach you how I’ve used public fitness marketing speaking to make lots of muney. Period.

yet another public speaking mistake

September 5, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

The lesson is simple:

Facts and figures don’t really fly.

Don’t act like a robot in front of your audience and regurgitate a bunch of scientific mumbo jumbo.

Communicating emotion in a way that creates a meaningful and personal connection with your audience is what is going to flood your bank account.

But most trainers don’t do that.

They whip out the power point and start giving away the store.

It seems completely counter intuitive but your audience doesn’t want the store, nor the robot.

They want to buy YOU.

If you cannot communicate emotion you cannot be a mega success in business.

Plain and simple.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,

PS - If you invest in http://AmazingFitnessPresentations.com I will teach you how.

How to Pick My Brain to Succeed In the Fitness Industry

September 5, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

SMACK.Sometimes I’ll do something for so long that just doesn’t make sense.

And I’ll smack myself in the head after I’ve corrected it.

SMACK.

You’re not the only one who self-sabotages.

There are times we have something extraordinarily valuable staring us in the face and don’t even know it.

It might be an opportunity to save time.

It might be a chance to learn something profound that will change our business - and us - forever.

It might be even be a circumstance where you get to ask someone a question that you KNOW if answered, your life would be so much easier.

Hmmmm. Watcha think about that.

I get a lot of people who email me and want the chance to pick my brain.

Well, did you know you CAN pick my brain if you are a member of http://PersonalTrainerU.com

And Pat Rigsby’s brain.

And Nick Berry’s brain.

And hundreds of other successful personal trainers.

It costs a freakin’ dollar to pick our brains for 30 days.

SMACK.

Who loves ya? ;-)

The Fastest Way to Becoming a Local Fitness Celebrity

The Fastest Way to Becoming a Local Fitness Celebrity

Many personal trainers have heard a great way to grow their business is by becoming a local fitness celebrity. But many don’t have any idea how to do it. Fortunately, with some effort, it’s very easy to accomplish. In fact, there are two things any trainer can be doing right now to catapult from unknown to “the” fitness expert in their area almost overnight.

Public Speaking

Nothing builds credibility like public speaking. Nothing. As soon as the speaker stands in front of their audience they are recognized as an instant expert. It’s an interesting phenomenon, but people automatically assume since the person is addressing an entire group they must be a credible source of information. Additionally, most people’s greatest fear is public speaking, so anyone who is able to actually do it is treated with respect and treated as an authority instantly.

Personal trainers who have a fear of speaking to groups can easily overcome it by becoming a member of Toast Masters International. It is an organization with a proud history of helping people overcome their fear of public speaking and improving their skills greatly. For information on them you can research www.ToastMasters.org

Finding speaking engagements is relatively easy; many civic clubs, networking groups and local associations have weekly meeting which feature a new presenter each time. Fitness professionals actively seeking places to speak can search the Internet for organizations in their area and contact them directly. Most are more than happy to have a presentation on weight loss and well-being.

Writing

After public speaking there is no faster way to be recognized as an expert in your field than publishing content. And unlike the days before the Internet, it couldn’t be easier than it is today.

Simple “how-to” articles can be easily written and published all over the Internet and beyond. These articles are typically 500 words in length and can be used in any number of ways. They can be posted as “deep content pages” of a website to drive search engine traffic. Articles can be submitted to article directory sites, such as www.EzineArticles.com , to be distributed all over the Web by Internet publishers who need content for their websites and blogs.

And of course, blogging has taken the Internet a step further and made it even easier for a trainer to demonstrate their expertise. Blogs are “loved” by the major search engines (think Google) and can be started with free software such as www.Blogger.com However, it is typically best to use a blogging program that incorporates WordPress technology, such as www.Thei360blog.com

At the same time, trainers should not forget about the “offline” world when it comes to writing. They can easily use the same articles they have written for the Internet and print copies to be distributed at places such as physician or chiropractic offices, or wherever their target market frequents, for that matter. Of course, all articles need to include a bio at the end and a strong call-to-action so the reader knows how to take action next.

Becoming a local fitness celebrity is not complicated. It merely takes effort. Any personal trainer who decides to become a prolific writer and speaker will be handsomely rewarded for it.

The Ultimate Reason Why

September 1, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

This may be the most important newsletter I’ve ever written, so please be sure to read all of it.

There’s a company I know that has grown to become very successful for one reason beyond all others:

They had a big enough “why.”

Their leader was told for years that what he wanted to accomplish just couldn’t be done.

Time after time he was turned away by programmers who told him the software he needed created to make his dream a reality just couldn’t be written.

But this man had a big enough “why.”

And he never quit on his dream because of it.

You see, this man was inspired by the death of his own brother to create a company that helped people show appreciation for one another.

He had missed the chance to tell his brother he loved him, and he vowed to build a business that would prevent others from doing the same.

When everyone was telling him it couldn’t be done he would only need think back to his reason “why.”

He had made a promise to his brother and it would NOT be broken. Read more

Another message I repeat over and over today:

Most people say that, but they don’t really get it.

So let’s get you started on some ways to make more of yours:

BIG problem for personal trainers

August 23, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

Pat Ribsby wrote a great newsletter about this awhile back.

Plain and simple, there’s no defined career path for trainers.

Most of the time a trainer gets a certification and gets sent on their merry way to fend for themselves.

Heck, how many times has someone told you they’re a part-time  trainer who has a full-time job in another field.

Or they work part-time as a bartender or limo driver or something.

The truth is, you CAN make a great living as a trainer if you seek out the knowledge of those who’ve actually made a business and career out of it.

Look, life is what you make it.

And while YOU might not be one of the part-bartender/part-trainer types, it is OUR collective responsibility to improve the credibility of this profession of ours.

Even if you’re a successful trainer already http://personaltraineru.com/ is the perfect place for you.

Why.

Because there are a ton of newbies on there who need your help and guidance - that’s why.

Come join us and help raise the bar.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,

PS - Just got this email from Nii Wilson. He’s one of my very successful http://howtoprofitwithbootcamps.com/ customers. In fact, I interviewed him for http://www.sixfigurebootcamps.com

“I’m loving http://www.personaltraineru.com

I love the professionalism and the “help each other team type of atmosphere.”

Most forums are negative but PTU is great.

I just wish more college programs taught what you teach, that way there would be a brighter light at the end of the tunnel for Exercise Phys/ Physical Education Graduates.”

Easy training business growth

August 23, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

As you know, I’m a HUGE believer in using public speaking to grow your training business.

Would you rather sell to one person at a time, or dozens.

That’s why you should be spending time each week actively seeking out speaking engagements.

Pretty easy.

In fact, it’s one of the 6 weekly activities found in the http://personaltraineru.com/ Six Figure Six system we unveiled last night. Read more
