On Wednesday night Carol and I went to the Stone Temple Pilots concert here in South Florida.
We probably watched half of the opening act, and I must say, they were better than most.
Now I’m no musician, but these guys were pretty good pros. But there was nothing spectacular about them. In fact, I still don’t know the name of the band.
STP was a whole other story.
As soon as Scott Weiland came on stage he took control. The exact OPPOSITE of the opening act. And I told Carol exactly that.
The other band sounded ok. But there was no persona. No emotional connection with the audience.
Weiland OWNED the stage - and his audience.
And yes, I know you can’t really compare the opening act to the headliner.
But when you get up on stage there is much more to it than just being solid.
When you COMMAND your audience’s attention and make an emotional connection with them is when the magic happens.
