McDonald’s vs. the Personal Trainer

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I’m flying to Salt Lake City today for the National Send Out Cards convention. It was an interesting start to the day. My Mercedes - which I normally LOVE - flashes a warning sign about my battery/alternator being on the blink. So, I grab Carol and tell her she’s going to have to drive me to the airport in West Palm. After almost killing us a couple times while talking to one of her clients, she manages to get me to the airport alive.

Next - I’m flying American Airlines and I’ll tell ya, what a cluster you know what the check in process was. One knucklehead in front of me couldn’t find his flight on the self-service e-ticket machine. Know why? Because he was at the wrong freakin’ airline counter!

Anyway, flight was good and we got off on time. The screaming baby behind me did a nice job of piercing my eardrums for a little bit as I read a copy of The Robb Report. Oh, and if you’re in the market for a helicopter to plant on your yacht, well, be sure to pick up this month’s issue.

The real reason I’m writing you: I sit down with my laptop - where I am right now - at DFW in Dallas and I immediately notice and ad for Mickey D’s. There is 6 of them - count ‘em - SIX McDonald’s in this airport alone. Their marketing is everywhere. Does YOUR personal training business have a marketing plan in place? There are plenty of overweight people who need your help, so you’d better. And make sure to keep your clients out of DFW airport - this place is calorically dangerous! ;-)

The Rocky Balboa Workout

This is the kind of drive and determination you MUST have if you want to run your own personal training business.

If you want to dream BIG, you have to go after it BIG. Watch and listen to Tony Robbins tell the story behind the success of Sylvester Stallone and you’ll learn what real desire and determination is.

Student of the game

July 31, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

It’s VERY simple.

Most trainers are students of fitness. They LOVE to learn about fitness.

And they can’t believe when they fail in business.

That would change if they LOVED to learn about sales, marketing, publicity, etc.

If you really, really, really want to succeed as the owner of a personal training business owner you MUST become a student of the game.

If you really believe getting ONE book or video or CD set is going to turn you into a millyunaire…

I’ve spoken to some struggling trainers lately and the problem is always the same:

They simply have not transformed themselves into the full-time students of business they need to be.

Bottom line: Keep learning everything you can about the business aspect or stay an employee.

Neither choice is right or wrong.

But if you want to play in this world you need to come prepared. And constant learning is the only way to do that.

Still love ya.

Another income stream for ya

As a personal training business owner, you’re in a very vulnerable position if you rely on only ONE income stream.

VERY vulnerable.

But don’t you worry, I’ve got a solution for you.

My buddy Rocco Castellano has made - and this is very much true - millyuns over the course of several years by incorporating Fitness Consultations as one of his income streams.

You see, Rocco has done what most talk about. He really IS a celebrity fitness trainer in every sense of the word.

He has trained Spike Lee and JFK Jr. He has trained Miss USA contestants. He has a syndicated column that runs in newspapers all over the country. He’s got his own radio show.

He’s 100% the real deal.

And when he told Pat Rigsby and I about how much moolah he was making with his Fitness Consultations, well, we told him he needed to make a product out of it so we could share it with YOU!

If you know Rocco, you know he does NOT mess around.

So he revealed EVERYTHING. And he turned it ALL loose.

You literally get all he’s got in his http://UltimateConsultationSystem.com

It’s as turn-key as turn-key gets. It’s all in there.

I even grilled him for a solid hour to be sure we squeezed every little bit of profit building info from him.

And you’ll never believe what he has to say about landing TONS of publicity. (he really does make it stupid simple to turn yourself into a serious celebrity fitness pro)

Best part?

Pat and I told him we wanted this product to be crazy affordable.

And it is. It’s $29 smacks. Yup, just $29.

For now.

This Thursday at midnight EST, Rocco will be raising the price to $67. That’s a promise.

Just the forms and handouts alone are worth a couple hundred clams.

The http://UltimateConsultationSystem.com is a complete no-brainer.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,

Jim Labadie

PS - The more income streams the better. Plus, you can charge a hefty price for these. And Rocco makes it SOOO easy. Don’t dilly dally. Get over to http://UltimateConsultationSystem.com NOW and get it will it’s still a measly $29.

DOH! How could I forget this?!

Ryan Lee Boot Camp III has been launched.

You need to be there.

I’ll be there. Lots of very, very successful trainers will be.

You CANNOT afford not to be there.

(please don’t write me and tell me that’s a double negative or some crap)

If you want to start to jump to higher and higher levels you need to know the players who are already there.

The actual content is going to be amazing.

But that’s not the real value.

The real value is in meeting all the other entrepreneurs.

Don’t I always tell you to surround yourself with the right people?

Here is how you do it. You go to Ryan Lee Boot Camp III.

So here’s the deal:

Ryan is offering a FULL moolah back guarantee, PLUS 100 clams out of his own pocket if you don’t think the event kicked complete ass.

This is my affiliate link to sign up.

http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=2502540

Yes, I will get a commission for your sign up.

But here’s the deal:

If you ask for your moolah back after the event is over, I too will give you 100 smacks out of MY own pocket as well.

If you can look me in the eye - remember, I’ll be there - and tell me you think this event sucked, you’ll get 100 bux from Ryan and 100 from me, PLUS, your full refund from registration.

If you attend and take action on what you have been taught…

If you attend and make the most of the networking afforded you…

…your business WILL be taken to levels you probably never thought possible.

Here’s the link again:

I’d better see you there.

Personal Training Success

July 22, 2008 by jim · 15 Comments

When it comes to building a personal training business, there are two very basic traits that I see in successful entrepreneurs.

1) They have an outrageous desire to succeed.

And I mean OUTRAGEOUS.

2) They are persistent as hell.

They may fail a thousand times, but they just ain’t gonna stop until they’re dreams come true.

You probably see the same traits in your most successful training clients.

What do YOU think? What are the most important keys to success in business, life and/or fitness?

Post YOUR comment below and let the Elite Personal Training Community know what your thoughts are on the keys to success.

Thanks!

Something you need to understand

When you give a free presentation to a networking group, civic organization or club, the people who come up to you immediately afterwards are the ones who want MORE free info.

They’ll practically “rush the stage” to get at you ahead of everyone else.

The ones who want to hire you are the ones who will patiently wait behind that crowd a little while until you are done talking to the moochers.

Unfortunately, if you handle your talk the wrong way there will be so many moochers the people who want to hire you are likely to leave.

They can’t wait around for ever, so make sure you know how to handle things the right way.

Just like any other day.

And while I’m a very safe driver, I don’t really remember the drive in.

It’s straight down US Hwy One so it’s real easy for my subconscious to handle.

In other words, it’s like driving on auto-pilot.

Life can be like that, too, ya know.

You coast through the days living on auto-pilot.

Day after day after day passes by and you wake up one day and wonder why your life isn’t like you want it.

Or not as fulfilling.

I’m not saying that’s the case with you.

Just something to think about.

Love ya no matter what.

Yours in prosperity,

Jim Labadie

PS - What if sales was so easy for you that you could put it on auto-pilot? Give me 120 minutes and I’ll show you how. http://HowToGetMoreClients.com

The ball and chain workout

July 3, 2008 by jim · Leave a Comment

I recently wrote a newsletter about how much GUILT holds us back.

It’s such a powerful emotion.

And I’ve told you before, if you can’t control your emotions, they will control YOU.

A trainer wrote back to me about that newsletter. See if it applies to you.

“Good message, Jim!

I have your sales series, have been in pt and professional bodybuilding for the last 20 years.

I’m a single Mom, and thought that I didn’t have the energy or time to market myself-when, really, I had GUILT.

Sure, the guilt was coming from outside sources, but I took in in in a subconscious level.

Thanks for the message-I’ll be talking with you, soon!

Sincerely,

Jackie

Again, I cannot stress this enough:

Control your emotions or they WILL control you.

Who loves ya? ;-)

Yours in prosperity,

Jim Labadie
